Welcome to an exciting journey through Karakalpakstan - a sovereign republic within Uzbekistan!
We will set off for the distant city of Nukus, where unique museums and a rich history await us, and then travel to Muynak, which was once a thriving port on the shores of the Aral Sea.
Nukus, the capital of Karakalpakstan, is known for the Igor Savitsky Museum of Art, which houses one of the largest collections of Russian avant-garde art outside of Russia. Here, you can see works by renowned artists and learn about the culture and art of the region.
A trip to Muynak will be a true journey through time. Once an important port bustling with life along the Aral Sea, Muynak's fate has drastically changed. It has now become a symbol of ecological disaster due to the shrinking sea, and its population has significantly declined. Here, you can visit the famous ship cemetery, located far from the water, and reflect on the consequences of human activity on nature.
Visiting Muynak and its surroundings also offers the chance to witness astonishing landscapes and experience a moment frozen in time. The sands and salt flats create an atmosphere of mystique and solitude, prompting contemplation about life, its fragility, and the importance of our interaction with the environment.
As we explore this remarkable land, we will also have the opportunity to gaze upon the vanishing sea and grasp the scale of change, experiencing the haunting beauty of the waterless expanses.
Prepare for unforgettable experiences and profound reflections!
