Duration: 10-12 hours
When you travel with me by car across Uzbekistan, detouring to Zaamin en route from Samarkand to Tashkent is a delightful choice. We’ll take a scenic route off the main road and immerse ourselves in the breathtaking views of the mountains.
Established in 1976, Zaamin National Park is dedicated to the rejuvenation and preservation of its stunning mountain juniper forests. Within the park, you’ll find a well-developed recreational area, featuring a charming mountain resort, a cable car spanning 2,102 meters, a selection of cafes and restaurants, modern hotels, a spa, and a captivating suspension bridge.
Nestled in the Jizzakh region of Uzbekistan on the northern slopes of the Turkestan Range, the park boasts a modern tourist complex situated at an altitude of 2,480 meters, while the majestic Mount Shaukartau towers at an impressive 4,030 meters.
Visiting Zaamin will enrich your journey through Uzbekistan, allowing you to discover the serene beauty of the mountains and offering a perfect opportunity to unwind in nature. Breathe in the fresh mountain air while enjoying panoramic vistas, lush juniper forests, and savoring delicious local cuisine. One must-try dish is the unique kazan-patyr, an exclusive culinary delight you won’t find anywhere else.
An intriguing highlight of our trip will be the unfinished radio astronomy observatory on the Suffa plateau, which we’ll view from a distance as we delve into its fascinating history.
In the afternoon, we will bid farewell to Zaamin and continue our journey, arriving in Tashkent at evening.
